| Harnessing and Advancing 3D & Medical Visualization Techniques |
| |
You will be provided a solid overview of the functions provided by a typical 3D lab through engaging lectures on 3D and advanced processing, the ins and outs of selecting a 3D system, and how to ensure success of your 3D lab.
The session includes demonstrations of how to develop standardized protocols for renderings of common imaging examinations, such as for vascular disease and orthopedic applications. The presentations will also include examples of less common, yet still important procedures, as well as models of how to support these less-frequent exams. |

Faculty:
Bradley J. Erickson, MD, PhD, FSIIM; Mayo Clinic, Rochester
Luciano M.S. Prevedello, MD; Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School
Eliot L. Siegel, MD, FSIIM; University of Maryland School of Medicine, VA Maryland Health Care System |

Objectives:
1. Examine the clinical goals of 3D labs for producing: 1) standardized 3D renderings for common applications like complex fractures, vascular disease; 2) standardized measures for tumors; and 3) individualized renderings and measures for unusual diseases.
2. Contrast the strengths and weaknesses of various operating models including central lab vs. distributed lab models, and hardware and performance implications.
3. Examine how to communicate effectively with the referring physician.
4. Interpret some of the economic principles of 3D labs and billing aspects of operations. |
